SIEC Board of Directors Selects New Executive Vice President & General Manager

During its February meeting, the board of directors of Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative (SIEC) named David Johnston as Executive Vice President & General Manager. Johnston will assume the responsibilities of the position on July 17, when his predecessor and current Executive Vice President/General Manager Chris Bennett retires after 26 years of service. Johnston has been serving as the Director of Administration & Finance at SIEC since 2013.

Johnston served in the United States Air Force for four years and later graduated from Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. Since employed at SIEC, he completed the National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association’s Management Internship Program (MIP) and Certified Financial Professional Certificate (CFPC) program.

A native of Anna, Johnston has been part of the community for nearly 40 years. He and his wife Aimee have three sons and a daughter ranging from age 16 to 24.

“I am honored and thankful to be given the opportunity to lead Southern Illinois Electric Cooperative and its fine employees,” says Johnston. “Our challenge is to continue to deliver safe, high-quality, reliable products and service to our members at an affordable price. That standard has been established by those before me, and I am confident that with the vision of our board, coupled with a talented staff, SIEC will continue to meet the evolving needs of our members.”
